Originally derived from Ancient Egyptian and Greek mythology, The Phoenix is a legendary bird which symbolizes renewal, transformation and hope. As the Phoenix nears the end of its life, the Phoenix feels the approach of death, and as an act of self-immolation, bursts into flames and is consumed by its own fire. From the ashes of its predecessor, a new Phoenix arises--reborn, renewed, and stronger than before. This cycle of death and rebirth represents the resilience of the spirit, and capacity for regeneration after catastrophe.
