What We Do
We use a variety of trauma-informed therapy modalities to support growth and healing.

Some of our most frequently asked questions are on this page, but if you don't see your question listed here, please contact us.
What modalities do you use?
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) uses bilateral stimulation to help your brain heal. It is most well-known as a treatment for PTSD, but it can also be a helpful modality for other conditions, including anxiety and depression.
Play Therapy
This modality uses toys, art, and games to help children communicate about their emotions and process traumatic events.
Emotionally focused therapy
EFT helps people understand and manage their emotions, as well as how emotions can impact their relationships. This modality can help people strengthen relationships and process distressing feelings or events.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on recognizing dysfunctional thought patterns and replacing them with more helpful ones. It may also help people to manage emotional reactions more effectively.
therapeutic Tabletop role-playing games
This modality uses tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) to help players process trauma, practice emotional regulation, and build social skills in a safe environment.
Relational psychodynamics
This modality focuses on the role of relationships in health and well-being, including how past relationships have influenced behavior and how current and future relationships can contribute to healing.
Narrative storytelling
Using narrative storytelling in therapy can help people understand how their life experiences have shaped their identity and reframe challenging experiences.
Internal Family Systems
IFS views the mind as a system of parts, all of which are trying to protect or help the core Self.
Relationship & Couples Therapy
Do you offer couples therapy?
Yes. We work with couples experiencing communication challenges, conflict, emotional distance, trust concerns, and life transitions. For more specific information about each therapist’s background, approach, and areas of focus, please feel free to explore the individual therapist bios available on our website.
Do both partners need to be committed to therapy?
Ideally, both partners are open to the process, but it’s okay if one person feels more unsure at first. We create space for both perspectives without pressure or blame. We also offer discernment therapy to help bring clarity in the relationship and how each partner would like to move forward.
Can therapy help even if we’re not sure we want to stay together?
Yes. Therapy can help you gain clarity, understand patterns, and make thoughtful decisions, whether that leads to repair or separation.
Still have questions?
Starting therapy isn’t about having everything figured out; it’s about being open to support. If you’re feeling unsure, that’s okay. You’re allowed to take your time, ask questions, and choose what feels right for you.
If you still have questions or want to schedule a session, please get in touch with us via call or text at (224) 276-8930 or email at info@phoenixtherapeutics.org.
